Are you looking for a unique and unforgettable experience in Mexico? Do you want to witness one of nature’s most amazing phenomena and explore some of the most charming and colorful towns in the country? If so, then you will love our new tour company, Kaleidoscope Tours, that specializes in offering magical trips to see the monarch butterflies and the Pueblos Mágicos of Michoacán.

What is Kaleidoscope Tours?

Kaleidoscope Tours is a family-owned and operated tour company that was founded by Adrian and I, a Canadian couple who fell in love with Mexico and its culture. We have been living in Mexico for over 10 years and have traveled extensively throughout the country. We have a passion for sharing our knowledge and enthusiasm with other travelers who want to discover the beauty and diversity of this amazing land.

Our mission is to provide high-quality, personalized, and affordable tours that showcase the best of Mexico’s natural and cultural attractions. We believe that traveling is not only about seeing new places, but also about learning, connecting, and having fun. That’s why we design our tours to be educational, interactive, and entertaining, with plenty of opportunities to meet local people, taste delicious food, and enjoy authentic experiences.

What do we offer?

Our primary tour is a 3-day trip to visit the El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary near the town of Angangueo. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve that hosts millions of monarch butterflies every year from November to March. These butterflies migrate from Canada and the United States to spend the winter in the oyamel fir forests of Michoacán, creating a spectacular sight that will leave you breathless. You will be able to walk among the butterflies, observe them up close, and learn about their fascinating life cycle and conservation efforts.

But that’s not all. Our tour also includes visits to four of the Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns) of Michoacán: Patzcuaro, Isla Janitzio, Morelia, and Tlalpujahua. These are towns that have been recognized by the Mexican government for their historical, cultural, or natural significance. Each one has its own charm and personality, with beautiful architecture, rich traditions, and friendly people. You will be able to explore their streets, markets, museums, churches, and monuments, as well as enjoy some of their special attractions, such as:

  • Patzcuaro: A colonial town on the shores of Lake Patzcuaro, famous for its Day of the Dead celebrations and its handicrafts.
  • Isla Janitzio: An island in Lake Patzcuaro that can be reached by boat, where you can climb to the top of a statue of José María Morelos, a hero of the Mexican War of Independence.
  • Morelia: The capital city of Michoacán and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its elegant baroque buildings and its candy shops.
  • Tlalpujahua: A former mining town that has reinvented itself as a producer of Christmas ornaments, with a museum dedicated to this craft.

Our tour is semi all-inclusive (suppers are not included), which means that we take care of everything else: transportation, accommodation, breakfasts, lunches, entrance fees, guides, tips, taxes, and insurance. You just need to bring your personal items, your curiosity, and your sense of adventure.

When is our launch date?

We are very excited to announce that our launch date for our first tour is November 22nd 2023. This is a perfect time to visit the monarch butterfly sanctuary, as the butterflies are at their peak activity and abundance. It is also a great time to enjoy the mild weather and the festive atmosphere of the Pueblos Mágicos.

We have limited spots available for this tour, so don’t miss this opportunity to join us on this magical journey. You can book your spot online through our website or contact us by phone or email for more information. We look forward to hearing from you soon and sharing our passion for Mexico with you.
