Our 3-day tour begins in Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa, moving through Patzcuaro, Isla Janitzio, Morelia, El Rosario Butterfly Sanctuary, Tlalpujahua, before circling back.   • Day 1:

    Travel from Zihuatanejo to Pátzcuaro, where you will take a boat ride to Isla Janitzio, a picturesque island with a giant statue of José María Morelos, a hero of Mexico’s independence. Enjoy lunch on the island and admire the views of Lake Pátzcuaro from the top of the giant statue. Then, continue to Morelia, the capital and largest city of Michoacán, and check into your hotel. You will have the evening free to explore the historic center, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or rest.

  • Day 2:

    After breakfast at the hotel, depart for El Rosario Butterfly Sanctuary, one of the most amazing places in the world to see the monarch butterflies that migrate here every year. You will have the option to horse ride or walk to the sanctuary, where you will witness the spectacle of millions of butterflies. You will also have the opportunity to plant an Oyamel tree, which is the preferred habitat of the monarchs. After lunch and souvenir shopping, depart for Tlalpujahua, a former mining town that is now famous for its handcrafted Christmas ornaments. Visit Santa’s House and watch glass-blowing artisans create beautiful decorations. Return to Morelia in the evening and enjoy some free time.

  • Day 3:

    After breakfast at the hotel, take a guided tour of Morelia Cathedral, one of the most impressive buildings in Mexico, and the historical downtown, where you will see colonial architecture, candy markets, and museums. Then, depart for Pátzcuaro, a charming town on the shores of Lake Pátzcuaro. Have lunch at Vista del Rey, a restaurant with panoramic views of the lake and surroundings. Take a guided tour of the historical downtown, where you will see Plaza Vasco de Quiroga, the main square, and two churches that flank it: San Simón and Inmaculada Concepción. You will also have time to browse the local handicrafts, such as pottery, textiles, and musical instruments. Depart for Zihuatanejo in the afternoon and arrive in the evening.

Enjoy a delightful lunch at Vista del Rey, a restaurant boasting stunning lake views, followed by a guided tour exploring the town’s colonial architecture and handicrafts.

We end our magical adventure and return to Zihuatanejo, leaving you with unforgettable memories and remarkable photos.
